I had found myself feeling rather displaced; disconnected from my surroundings and bombarded with a barrage of instabilities. Seeking to renew my sense of balance, kinship, and connectivity with the natural world, I ceremoniously baptized in the glacial waters of the Pacific Northwest. As the pockets of natural dye spread across the cotton fabric of my robe, I inhaled life and exhaled gratitude. The sensation of water flowing around my form, bits of ice sliding through the fabric, the crunch of snow beneath my bare feet, and the wind whipping through my hair left me feeling invigorated, alive, and interwoven with my environment once more. The waters of this baptism did not wash anything away, but rather replenished the amphora of self.
